History treasures

Here are two treasures we found in Boston Harbor. We love exploring the wash zone between the high and low tide lines and looking for treasure. Last night and today were particularly neat.

First Anna found a silver plate spoon in the water at low tide on Georges Island. George’s has long been the site of various forts, including a large one since the civil war. We were in a bit of a rush to get back to the boat, but were going back this morning to see if the park folks want the spoon.

This morning, Greg found a piece of stoneware under the low tide line on Peddocks Is. USQMC stands for U.S. Quartermaster Corps. A little online research suggests that it is probably from WWII.
