We had a visitor last night, a yellowish warbler. He stayed overnight and grew quite friendly. this morning he slowing made his way into the cockpit and then closer and closer to us. finally, he started landing on our hands, shoulders, and eventually our heads. It was really fun. We hope that he’ll stick around for the trip. he was named whistle since he does sort of whistle. We later heard of other warbler sitings and one boat suggested that he was hitching his way south.
We are making great time sailing on a close reach at 8-8.5kts. it sounds like the boats a bit further north are losing the wind and motoring.
The birthday fish tally was 2. one about 28″, the other 48″. The larger one had a good size flying fish in its belly which we examined. Real, hands-on science. Lines are out again now.
All are in good spirits.
the merry crew of SV Hurrah.
