On day 3, we hiked across the north side of the island to an huge, isolated crescent beach on the north east side.
The sand and the water were gorgeous. The dune line was less pretty as it was full of all sorts of flotsam and jetsam that the Atlantic wanted to return to land. Most of it came from fishing boats.
Some of the debris was useful. We also picked up a couple of nice fishing floats.
At various places along the trail, we had to climb up small cliffs to follow the trail. These ropes were actually a side trail, but quite similar to those we climbed.
The hike was a scratchy (as in is-that-plant-poisonwood?), mind the wasps, and balance carefully along the edge of cliff sort of hike. Having the enormous beach to ourselves was wonderful, but in the end, we actually liked the beach at the anchorage even better. It often works out that way, doesn’t it?
