On the return to the U.S.

We are passing south of Lucaya/Freeport on Grand Bahama Island. Here’s the view

It has looked like this for a while. The wind has dropped significantly and veered so our course would take us dead downwind. So, the coast is moving by at 4 kts.

Other than wishing for a bit more wind, we are having a nice Mother’s Day out here eating tex-mex stew and homemade cookies, playing games, and reading books. We’re looking forward to the Gulf Stream and maybe adding catching fish to that list. The sail yesterday and last night was really nice with good breeze and pretty flat waters.

We wonder a bit what awaits us ashore. There is a good West Marine and a grocery store by the marina in Ft Pierce. I bet that all the grocery stores we have seen in the Bahamas could fit into the grocery store there and leave quite a bit of room leftover. We’re still working through that one.
