Clamming and Living the Life

We spent one night off Prudence Island in Narragansett Bay.  With folks in boats clamming all around us, we couldn’t resist.  We tried our luck ashore.  Well, actually the kids tried their luck as they didn’t need licenses.  Oh, too bad the adults didn’t have theirs and the kids had to gather dinner without any help.  All the while, the adults just had to enjoy the view.  The best part is finding them.  You can stomp around and wait for them to shoot water into the air or use a tip from a local on shore:  toss a big rock and the shock really makes them spit.  Then you know where to dig.   The rock tossing was an even bigger hit than the digging.

In no time, they had about 3 dozen keepers – just enough for dinner.  We moved over to East Greenwich off the state park and had a great dinner.

Tonight we’re back east in Bristol.  We meant to go in and check out the town, but got comfortable on the boat and didn’t budge.  We did try out our new game of Clue – a boat-themed homemade version that is a blast.  Watch out for First mate White, in the Galley, with the winch handle…
